If Eddie wanted to configure a 2 switch application, he would want to use the Tip and Sleeve, and Ring and Sleeve configurations for his switch application, and assign functions from the “Switch #1” and “Switch #3” menus. In the simultaneous Tip Ring and sleeve configuration, assignment will be done from the “Switch #2” menu. In the Tip and Sleeve configuration, assignment must be in the “Switch #3” menu. If only one task is to be assigned to one switch, for instance “HARMONY” is assigned to “Switch #1”, a momentary switch must be connected to a TRS plug in the Ring and Sleeve configuration. Each switch position can be assigned a task from the “SETUP” menu when “FOOTSWITCH – SWITCH_3” is activated, and function tasks are assigned to switch positions in the next menu. Only one of these switching applications is required to achieve Eddie’s desired single switch functionality.Įach of the three switch functions, as previously mentioned, register within the processor as switch positions #1, #2, or #3. The Switch 3 switch pedal uses a dual diode circuit configuration to obtain the simultaneous connection. These are the three switching applications that are available when using TC Helicon’s “Switch 3” switch pedal.
(1/4 inch TS mono plugs will not work.) In order for the processor to activate a function, momentary continuity (contact) has to be established between the tip and sleeve, the ring and sleeve, or the tip/ring simultaneously and the sleeve. This port is a TRS jack that accepts Tip, Ring, Sleeve = (TRS) 1/4 inch stereo plugs. The Play Acoustic processor has a jack port which is marked “PEDAL” on the connection side of the processor. This application is limited to TC Helicon “Switch 3” applicable processors. Let’s start with the basic requirements for adding remote switching functions to several of TC Helicon’s applicable processor products, including the Play Acoustic.
I will address this switching application, and offer other switching alternatives in this blog. His goal is to have a single remote switch pedal to activate only one of the assignable switch functions from the menu of his processor, the “Harmony” on/off function.
